Welcome To Cossington House Surgery
The Practice
We are an old established practice initially situated in Lower Bridge Street. The old premises, built
into the City Wall, were, however, demolished to make way for widening the inner ring road in 1969, when we
moved to our present home in Cossington Road.
Cossington House dates from the early nineteenth century and was originally a farmhouse. From 1918 to
1969, it was occupied by the Taylor family, who ran the ‘Kent Corn, Seed and Fruit Stores’ in the Parade,
almost next door to the Corn Exchange.
The practice currently includes five doctors, a practice manager, a health visitor, three practice nurses, district
nurses, five assistants/secretaries and eight receptionists. Being a training practice, we also usually have a
GP registrar and occasionally medical students with us. All staff are bound by strict rules of confidentiality. We
are a computerised practice and are registered under the Data Protection Act.

The receptionists are available at the surgery from 8.00am to 6.30pm every weekday. They will help you with all enquiries. However, it would help our receptionists if you could enquire about the results of any investigations by telephone AFTER 2.00pm on weekdays.
Access for People With Disabilities
There is a ramp at the front and back of the building and the doors may be hooked open. If you need assistance please ring the bell. Doctors who have surgeries upstairs are willing to consult patients with disabilities in a downstairs room.
